Horam League vs Crowborough II
03 August 2009
Another inspired performance saw the Horam League team finish the season with back-to-back home wins and made amends for the away defeat at Horam.
The Ladies doubles team of Marilyn Hanbury and Ann Jones completed a routine 6-2, 6-3 victory on court 1.
The shortest match of the evening was the Mens doubles on Court 3. The pairing of Paul Mitchell and Gareth Prosser produced a near faultless performance with only a silly dropped service game when leading 5-0 in the first set. Their final score was 6-1, 6-1.
In the longest rubber of the match, the home pair of Carolyn Robinson and Alan Mates lost a close match 3-6, 6-7 (7-3) as the other pairs tucked into their sandwiches. Perhaps it was slurping of tea which put them off as they slipped from a 5-2 lead in the second set.
The evening's events ended with the usual sandwiches, teas and Twix courtesy of Marilyn.
